Friend or ally
Dakodah is a modern spelling variant of Dakota, derived from the name of the Dakota people, a Native American tribe. In the Dakota language, the word means 'friend' or 'ally'. While the traditional spelling is more common, this variant adds a unique visual flair to the established place-name.
