Song or melody; also God is my judge
In Latvian and Lithuanian traditions, a daina is a traditional form of vocal music or poetry, often reflecting folklore. It is also used as a variant of Dana, which is the feminine form of Daniel, meaning 'God is my judge' in Hebrew. In some contexts, it is associated with the Roman goddess Diana.
