Southerner or from Marcy
Dacey is an anglicized form of the Irish surname Γ Deasghamhna, meaning 'descendant of the Southerner'. It is also sometimes considered a diminutive of the French name Marcy, which relates to the Roman god Mars. In modern usage, it is often chosen for its similarity to the more common names Darcy and Stacey.
