Courteous, polite, or brave
Originally a short form of Curtis, derived from the Old French 'curteis' meaning polite or well-bred. It is also sometimes associated with the Germanic name Kurt, which means brave counsel. In modern usage, it stands alone as a brisk, no-nonsense masculine name.
