Prophetess or shining upon man
Most commonly a diminutive of Cassandra, which comes from the Greek 'kekasmai' (to excel, to shine) and 'aner' (man). In Greek mythology, Cassandra was a Trojan princess given the gift of prophecy but cursed never to be believed. It can also serve as a short form of Catherine or Cassia.
