Casi is primarily used as a diminutive of Cassandra, meaning 'shining upon man,' or Catherine, meaning 'pure.' It can also be a variant of the Spanish name Casimira, meaning 'proclaimer of peace.' In modern usage, it often stands alone as a simplified, phonetic spelling of Cassie.
