Small shoe or sturdy
Derived from the Irish surname Ó Brógáin, which comes from the word 'bróg' meaning shoe, combined with a diminutive suffix. Historically, it may have referred to a maker of sturdy footwear or a person of small stature. It is also associated with Saint Brogan, an early Irish scribe and nephew of Saint Patrick.
