Berry wood or bailiff
A variant of Bailey, derived from the Old English 'beg-leah' meaning berry clearing or the Middle English 'baili' referring to a public administrator or steward. It originally served as an occupational surname for a bailiff or a topographical name for someone living near a berry wood.
