Desired; or little bird
Aveline is a Norman French diminutive of Avila, which is derived from the Germanic name Avelina. It is often associated with the Latin word 'avis', meaning bird, or the Germanic root 'aval', meaning strength or desire. Historically, it is the root name from which the popular name Evelyn eventually developed.
