Ashiyah is a variant of the Arabic name Asiya, which carries the connotation of one who tends to the weak or heals. In Islamic tradition, it is highly revered as the name of the Pharaoh's wife who cared for Moses. It is also sometimes associated with Hebrew roots meaning 'God has made'.
