Arjen is a Dutch diminutive form of Adrian, which originates from the Latin name Hadrianus. It historically refers to someone from the town of Adria in Northern Italy, which also gave its name to the Adriatic Sea. While common in the Netherlands, it remains a rare and distinctive choice in the United States.
