Ariane is the French and German form of the Greek name Ariadne. In Greek mythology, Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos who helped Theseus escape the Labyrinth. The name is composed of the Greek elements 'ari', a superlative prefix, and 'adnos', meaning holy.
