Areana is a variant of the Greek name Ariadne. In Greek mythology, Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete who helped Theseus escape the Labyrinth. The name is composed of the Greek elements 'ari', an intensive prefix, and 'adnos', meaning holy.
