Arabela is a rare variant of Annabel or Arabella. It is often traced to the Latin 'orabilis', meaning 'yielding to prayer', or the Germanic 'Arnhild', meaning 'eagle battle'. In some contexts, it is associated with the Latin phrase 'ara bella', meaning 'beautiful altar'.
