Messenger and bitter or beloved
A modern compound name combining Angel, from the Greek 'angelos' meaning messenger, and Marie, the French form of Mary. While Marie is often associated with 'bitterness' from its Hebrew roots, it is also frequently interpreted as 'beloved' or 'wished-for child'.
