In Portuguese and Spanish, Amaro is a variant of the Latin name Amarus, meaning 'bitter.' However, it is also associated with the Germanic name Adamar, meaning 'noble and famous,' and occasionally linked to the Sanskrit 'Amara' meaning 'immortal.'
