Little rock or handsome
Alane is a feminine form of Alan, likely derived from the Breton word for 'little rock' or 'handsome'. It may also share roots with the Alans, an Iranian nomadic tribe that migrated to Europe in the 4th and 5th centuries. In modern usage, it is often treated as a rare, French-influenced variation of Alana.
