From Hadria; dark
An elaborate spelling of Adriana, which is the feminine form of Adrian. It originally denoted someone from the town of Hadria in Northern Italy, which also gave its name to the Adriatic Sea. The name is often associated with the Latin word 'ater', meaning dark or black, referring to the color of the sand in that region.
