Abrey is a modern variation of Aubrey, which is derived from the Germanic name Alberic. It combines the elements 'alf', meaning elf or supernatural being, and 'ric', meaning power or ruler. While traditionally masculine in its ancient roots, it has become a popular feminine choice in English-speaking countries.
